Zhu Zhi Yu

Deputy Treasurer

Zhu Zhi Yu is a lightning‑fast junior prodigy who first gripped an armwrestling table in 2020 and has since become one of Singapore’s most decorated pullers, earning the nickname “Ultraman” for his explosive hits.

Elected Deputy Treasurer of Singapore Armwrestling (SGAW) in 2024, he balances two demanding hats—elite athlete and federation officer, Zhu helps manage budgets and youth‑talent, giving him experience uncommon for athletes his age. That dual role as board member and active elite competitor makes him a visible bridge between administration and athletes in Singapore’s rapidly formalising scene.

Bursting onto the regional stage with Singapore’s first ever Asian Championship golds in 2022, Zhu Zhi Yu stormed through the U‑78kg field at the Asian Armwrestling Championships in Malaysia—pinning Malaysian rival Ajong “The Mechanic” in both left‑ and right‑arm finals, then closed that season by winning the Men’s Open Pro right‑hand title at the 2023 Singapore Nationals. He carried that momentum into a best‑of‑five grudge‑match victory over Ajong on the undercard of UAC 4:Invasion in October 2023, squared off with national welterweight # 1 Greg Yeo in the headline “Unfriendly Ultramatch” exhibition, and fought with six‑time world champion Cvetan Gashevski during the 2023 Vier Sport Invitational in Jakarta—a viral clip that showcased his rapidly developing top‑roll against a legend of the sport. Having bulked to 105kg, Zhu stepped up as the main‑event puller for the 2024 SEA CUP:Unfinished Business, where he bowed 0‑3 to Philippine powerhouse Mark Luis Ben but cemented his status among Southeast Asia’s heavyweight elite

Training clips labelled “Singapore’s # 1 Armwrestler” regularly surface on YouTube and Telegram practice groups, where he demonstrates setup drills, cupping strength work and power curls for juniors aspiring to replicate his explosive starts
